Making New Friends in Cancun Through the Power of Blue

The chance that exists beyond having started our company and meeting one of our first customers in another country is rare. However, that was the Blue Cancun customer experience in a nutshell, which was one of the moments as founders that we will always remember. What was a family vacation ended up being much more, as this experience only served to confirm our belief in our vision to foster a prosperous Blue community. Many could say this was fate or just a lucky coincidence, however, the story behind meeting one of our valued customers will always resonate with us as it becomes another great sign of how far we have come. Although we did not formally meet our customer until the end of our trip, we were grateful to have met one of the first customers who had purchased their Blue Smart Card a couple of months after it had just released in 2019.

It was Thanksgiving weekend when we had just arrived at our resort in Cancun ready for our adventure to Selvatica, a fertile campground with many years of history. Despite being Fall, it was a clear-skied evening with the sun peeking out through the clouds into our safari truck as we boarded ready to take off onto our jungle adventure with a few other families.

The Safari truck would be the one to take us to our destination where we would zip line down the scenic jungle, however, this was a 2-3 hour drive that by then by nature we were bound to start talking to the families sitting by us as we took pictures of the heavenly green landscape. As my family began conversing with the family in our van, I drifted off into the nature views. It was so refreshing to be surrounded by sounds like a breeze pushing against the trees, chirping birds, the water softly running through the rocks, and distant conversations as opposed to the busy regular life in the city. At that moment, I was drawn into the conversation from a safari truck ahead in which a magician was talking about his recognized business card magic trick. As soon as I heard that, I nodded over to my dad, CFO/COO of Blue Social, to let him know about the conversation over in the next truck about the magic trick and I whispered, “if only he knew about Blue.” The thought floated away with the breeze, slowly becoming an afterthought as our explorer adventure continued where I went on one of the world’s largest ziplines in the world. And of course, I had to rep the Blue Smart Card for the picture while I flew away. As our tour came close to an end, we arrived at our final destination, where we would all part ways. In that instant, I told the instructor if she could take a quick picture of us with the group.  The surprise I received after sharing my[1][2] thoughts out loud about the magician knowing who Blue is, happened just as I reached to grab my phone back from the instructor when I was greeted by the magician himself, Daniel Nicholas. He asked as he pointed out my Blue branded pop-socket if I worked at Blue. To his surprise, he found out that we were the founders themselves. We both stood in awe as we soaked in the revelation of having bumped into each other.

Daniel then proceeded to say how much he loved his Blue Smart Card ever since his purchase early in our journey, as the product had just been released in August. He even included it in one of his magic tricks, which provided an innovative way for him to share his business information since he would hide it in his deck and tap away to all the nearby phones. Concurrently, creating magic with Blue technology. As we ended our conversation after talking for a few minutes, Daniel ended by expressing his admiration for Blue by being a passionate believer in Blue’s vision. We concluded by asking if we could share socials with a quick tap from my Blue Smart Card to remain in touch since it is not an everyday occasion that you bump into a valued customer. We then parted ways with glowing smiles stamped in our faces while we absorbed the impactful interaction. This moment provided so much purpose for us considering that our vacation was in November, only 3 months after releasing our Blue Smart Card, and we had already stumbled upon someone who was using our product. We were so thrilled to have found him since we were able to see the first-hand impact our Blue Smart Cards were making. Through this single interaction, we were witnessing our growth as a company and our impact on the world.

Although our family trip continued after this experience, it only made it more enjoyable than it already was. As the reader, you might question, why was this one experience so valuable? To that, we respond with whenever you embark on your entrepreneurial journey there are moments in which you often face obstacles, however small moments like this mean the world to us as they serve as pleasant reminders to keep ongoing. Plus, it is not an everyday moment that you get to interact with a customer face-to-face, a feature that Blue proves to promote, and there we were at that moment bonding about Blue. To this day, we keep in touch with Daniel Nicholas, the magician, who was recently in our affiliate zoom party, where he showcased his unique talent.
